Chinese New Year Traditions & Superstitions by Seffie
The colour Chinese believe to be lucky during
Chinese New Year is red.The name of an animal
used in the dance performances is a lion.The patrons give the dancing animals lettuce as they
parade through the street.The name of the candle holder Chinese use,during the light
festival is a lantern.The children are given on
the first day of Chinese New Year,a red envolope
with money inside.Foods the Chinese enjoy are
co co nuts,noodles,plums,nuts,peanuts.They
leave their doors and windows open to let bad
spirits out.Chinese do not cut their noodles because it means short life.Chinese dont use knives
or scissors because it brings death to the year.It is bad luck to clean the house on the 1st day of the new year because you sweep away good spirits.
